Answer by lpnlab A lot of the decorators are “just that good”. Some places will use a large paintbrush to brush the icing over the cookie and free hand the design. I work in a bakery and we have decorator technicians that will come in and show us new items and they are just amazing at decorating. It looks like a machine does it.

I’m not sure how to ask this question exactly, but you know how you buy a tube of cookies from the store, and the whole roll has the image of santa through it, so no matter where you cut, you have a sugar cookie with the same image as the rest?
How would one go about making their own?
I’ve seen an easy idea on pixelated images, but that’s not exactly what I’m going for.

Answer by Raylynn I would say start out by separating your dough and coloring half of it or coloring the two halves 2 different colors. Roll the piece that you want to use as the middle into a log. Put it into the fridge to firm up so the shape you want comes out clean. Then there are 2 ways you could do it, use a cookie cutter, slightly smaller than the size of the tube, and slide it down the entire length of the tube. Or you could use an edible marker and draw on one end the image you want and then use a knife to cut that image along the tube. I would then roll out the other half so you can wrap it around the tube of the image.
